چکیده
Abstract Sowing date and seed rate influence crop establishment, growth, yield profitability. The growth of field beans (Vicia faba) in response to sowing was examined over three seasons, 2016–2019, Teagasc, Oak Park, Carlow, Ireland. Early winter sowings (October) established better than late November January. No significant difference found establishment from mid-February mid-March. Yield generally highest October for the cultivar. Yields were similar February, March April spring cultivar, with yielding higher across seasons. also increase significantly both cultivars. economic optimum plant population estimated dates, by fitting a standard (linear + exponential) curve. There is no published information on populations Ireland we believe are first report these findings. varied between 13 38 plants/m 2 varieties, an average 25.5 . This range falls within current recommendations Ireland, demonstrating that increasing above commercial practice will not or

Response of Spring Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Quality Traits and Yield to Sowing Date
The unpredictability and large fluctuation of the climatic conditions in rainfed regions do affect spring wheat yield and grain quality. These variations offer the opportunity for the production of better quality wheat. The effect of variable years, locations and sowing managements on wheat grain yield and quality was studied through field experiments using three genotypes, three locations for ...

In order to study the response of morphology, yield and yield components of spring safflower (Carthamus tinctorious L.) cultivars to different sowing dates, an experiment was carried out using a split-plot design on the basis of a randomized complete block design with four replications, in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University of Khouzestan, south-west of Iran at 2016-2017. Exp...
متن کاملEstimates of broad-sense heritability for seed yield and yield criteria in faba bean (Vicia faba L.).
Eight faba bean (Vicia faba L.) genotypes were grown at lowlands of the west-Mediterranean region of Turkey in order to estimate the broad-sense heritability for plant height, number of stems and pods per plant, seed yield, biological yield, 100-seed weight, days to flowering and maturity. The heritability for plant height, number of stems and pods per plant, seed yield, biological yield, 100-s...
متن کاملFolate content in faba beans (Vicia faba L.)—effects of cultivar, maturity stage, industrial processing, and bioprocessing
Faba beans are an important source of folate and commonly consumed in Egypt. This study examined the effects of Egyptian industrial food processing (e.g., canning and freezing), germination, cultivar, and maturity stages on folate content, with the aim to develop a candidate functional canned faba bean food with increased folate content. The folate content in four cultivars of green faba beans ...
